01 / The gap

Climate policy needs a better bridge to lived reality.

Communities hold place-based knowledge. Public institutions hold mandates, budgets and democratic responsibility. Global networks hold specialised knowledge and capacity. Too often these assets remain disconnected.

The Sprint connects them around a real territorial problem.

Not another consultation. Not an external expert mission. Not a technology demo. The local territory becomes the learning environment; political and institutional actors become part of the action; the global network becomes a source of knowledge, capacity, verification and future funding pathways.

Resilience grows when people can understand, participate, contribute and decide around the places they depend on.

A Sprint starts before people arrive.

The seven-day experience is the visible core. The method begins with preparation so that local actors, political/institutional partners and global contributors arrive around a real challenge and a shared question.

Find the live question

Identify a concrete climate-resilience or territorial-governance challenge that matters locally and can lead to an institutional decision or pilot.

PREP 02

Map the community

Identify knowledge holders, residents, organisations, public leaders, technical staff, assets, conflicts and existing initiatives.

PREP 03

Match the network

Bring in a small, relevant group of global and regional contributors whose skills complement — rather than replace — local knowledge.

The existing 7-day Design Sprint is retained — but its purpose is reframed: the object is not merely a solution. It is the capacity of the territory to understand, organise, act and learn together.

We want to discover what makes people keep participating after the Sprint. The first pilot therefore experiments with ways to recognise contributions without reducing community life to transactions.

The method draws on commons research and community practice, while testing how these principles can become useful to contemporary municipalities and local political leadership.
